| William Paton, the son of John Paton, was probably the same William Paton who was press-ganged into the British Navy, captured by the French, placed under John Paul Jones, escaped and eventually became Deacon of the Weavers of Dumfries like his father before him. Latterly lived on the Dalawinton estate. | Janet Murray was a daughter of John Murray whose ancestors were a Galloway family of Covenanters that fought and suffered in the "Killing Times" | ||
